About

Meet Paula Henry
She Practices What She Teaches
What you see inside the studio — the discipline, the curiosity about how the body works, the belief that it is never too late to get stronger — is not something Paula leaves at the door when the last client heads home. It’s how she lives.
Paula Henry is a runner, a cyclist, a race volunteer, an informal mentor, and a deeply committed student of human movement. She has spent over two decades not just teaching fitness — but living it, testing it, and pushing her own limits through every season of life.
Life Outside the Studio
Paula’s training doesn’t stop when her work day ends. Depending on the season, you’ll find her out on the roads running or on her bike cycling — logging miles, staying sharp, and doing exactly what she asks her clients to do every single day.
She has participated in races throughout New England — as a competitor, as a volunteer, and as an official. The race community is not a hobby for Paula. It’s a second home. She understands from the inside what it takes to train for an event, to push through the hard miles, and to cross a finish line that once seemed impossibly far away.
— A cooperative and consistent partnership on fitness goals leads to the best outcomes.
The Boston Marathon
Among the races woven into Paula’s life, the Boston Marathon holds a special place. The world’s oldest annual marathon and one of the most iconic sporting events in New England, it is the race that every runner in the region measures themselves against.
Paula has been part of the Boston Marathon community as a volunteer and official — working the event from the inside, understanding its demands at every level, and contributing to something far bigger than any individual finish time. That experience gives her a perspective on endurance, preparation, and what the human body is truly capable of that she brings directly into her coaching.
Giving Back to the Running and Cycling Community
Paula doesn’t just participate in the endurance sports community — she invests in it. Over the years she has informally mentored individuals who are new to running or cycling, helping them understand how to train intelligently, avoid injury, and build the kind of foundation that makes the sport sustainable for years rather than just a season.
This is the same instinct that drives her work at PHF. Whether someone is preparing for their first 5K or walking into a gym for the very first time, Paula’s approach is the same: meet them where they are, give them real knowledge, and help them build something that lasts.

— Her unique ability to help others internalize fitness training takes advantage of teachable moments — fostering better understanding of how and why we move and perform as we do.
A Career Built Across Every Stage of Life
Paula’s passion has always been for helping people understand the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of their own physical selves — and guiding them toward a plan of action that actually serves their personal goals. What makes her career distinctive is the range of people she has served.
From young athletes building their foundation to older adults reclaiming strength and mobility they thought was gone for good, Paula has worked across every stage of life. She understands that the body changes, that goals shift, and that the definition of progress looks different at 25 than it does at 65 — and she meets every client exactly where they are in that journey.

At PHF, nobody is too young to start and nobody is too old to improve. That belief is not a marketing line. It is twenty years of evidence.
The Studio She Built
Paula Henry Fitness is located on Route 1 in Rowley, MA, near the intersection of Route 133 — easily accessible from I-95 and conveniently situated for clients across the North Shore.
The studio spans 2,000 square feet and was designed with one thing in mind: giving every client the space, equipment, and environment they need to do real work. It includes a full range of strength and resistance training equipment alongside treadmill, elliptical, cycling, and rowing machines for conditioning and stamina work.
Small by design. Serious by purpose. There is no crowded floor, no waiting for machines, no anonymity. Every person who trains at PHF is known by name, coached individually, and treated as the priority — because at Paula Henry Fitness, that’s the only way it works.
What Drives Her
Paula Henry became a trainer because she lived the alternative. She knows what it feels like to be out of shape, intimidated, uncertain, and starting from zero. She knows what it feels like to fail a certification exam and wonder if she was fooling herself. And she knows what it feels like to come out the other side of all of that stronger, clearer, and more capable than she ever imagined.
That personal history is not incidental to her work. It is the foundation of it. Every client who walks into PHF uncertain, uncomfortable, or convinced it’s too late — Paula has been exactly where they are. And she knows, with twenty years of evidence behind her, that it is not too late. It is never too late.
